A drunk driver struck Bob Cooley and his friend Pam as pedestrians in 1976. Pam did not survive and Bob forgave the driver and himself. In his attempt to rehabilitate himself, Bob discovered how all animals naturally stretch - they contract and resist while stretching. He calls this Resistance Flexibility and developed 16 different types of stretches for the whole body. Naturally allowing your body to tense and resist when you stretch dramatically upgrades all your myofascia tissues, as the fascia is restored towards its optimal health. In the process of spending extreme numbers of days even months in each type of stretch, he then discovered that each of the sixteen types of stretches resulted in specific health benefits. The benefits surprisingly included not just physical and physiological, but also psychological, emotional, and spiritual. Therefore each type of stretch can be used by anyone to address her or his most pressing health concerns.

Resistance Flexibility helps to transform trauma into gifts. Everyone experiences being unsnagged by her or his traumas and lifted into high personality traits, good looks, and spiritual growth. Resistance Flexibility is one of the best forms of preventative health care, and the future of rehabilitative and regenerative therapies. Healing requires a community of people and not something people can do by themselves.

Bob and fellow physicians and researchers did endoscopic and ultrasound filming of Resistance Flexibility to dramatically show how human fascia was transfigured and restored, while accumulated dense fascia and scar tissue was eliminated through Resistance Flexibility training.

Bob's new type based psychology identified muscle groups, organs, and tissue concomitances as a physical basis for type, something Jung has alluded to was necessary in order to substantiate a psychology of types. For each type, bob identified concomitant high/low personality traits, archetypes, good looks, intelligences, defense mechanisms, integration, etc. for each of the 16 genetic types.

The central theme about types rests on the discovery that each type has an underlying unconscious type that balances them. The unconscious type has the traits as their balancing type and is the other gender. The unconscious mind can be understood as being the aquifer for the conscious mind, meaning the person s access to their unconscious or balancing traits directly determines the quality of actions of their conscious behaviors, and that a disconnect of oneself from their unconscious mind is the source of their problems. Read the book, start stretching, and discover for yourself how much you can change your life, health, etc..

When I first met Bob in the early 1990s, I was a mess as a human being.

It felt as though I had one foot in the world, and one out of it. I was spaced out to the point of not being present for conversations, my digestion was horrible and my belly hurt all the time. I threw up every morning because my suffering and grief was overwhelming. All I wanted to do was sleep. I was 21 years old and someone asked me if I'd served in Vietnam. I was so counter-phobic, I walked straight through fast moving traffic. My body was a tight mess. I had no leverage on life, and my prime desire was to find my self and end my suffering.

Fortunately, synchronicity intervened. If it hadn't, I might not be alive. I really don't know.

A new acquaintance introduced me to Bob just at the right time. He may as well have carried me into Bob's studio in a shoe-box, all crumpled up, because Bob took me out of the box I was in, put my feet on the ground, and then started to tell me about myself. He put me into a liver stretch and I felt free for the first time, finally true relief.

I knew the stretching worked the moment I experienced it, so I then devoted the next few years to stretching almost all day, every day, even in my sleep, even when I was driving. Applying principles Bob taught me in each moment, I learned to handle my reactions to life, etc., and my suffering began to lessen. My body healed and pains disappeared, I hurt less, and life began to get better.

Three and a half years later of stretching, and paying attention to my mind, and using the knowledge learned from Bob's system, my body and my life was very different, and so was my mind. Stretching had made me more sensitive, and my body had taught me how not to eat and consequently, how to eat, raw foods at that time, and with the increased consciousness from a healthier body and a clearer mind, one day standing in Bob's studio, I dismantled my suffering and entered a constant state of peace. I connected with my self. I experienced the profound state of oneness that is written about in spiritual teachings.

My mind and my life was changed forever. And, it revealed the middle way to me, and I began to meditate, naturally...

That day was a new beginning for me... I had leverage to enjoy living, finally, and to learn from my self.

I had previously thought, if I was lucky, I might find this peace "someday", perhaps as a 90 year old hermit, meditating in a cave, long after I had lived and loved and worked and suffered, but there I was in the heart of Boston, in Bob's studio, looking out upon buildings and traffic. No need for caves, no need to withdraw, just stretch and pay attention.

And then I noticed my running speed had gone from 15 mph as a teenager, to 20 mph as a young adult, who never ran.

Fun.

I don't tell you because I want you to believe me. I want you to stretch and try this out for yourself and see what you can get out of it, because if you do, you will benefit yourself and others.

Peace gave me leverage on my life, but you might need something else. That's ok. Peace was just the beginning for me, I have been using what I learned from Bob to heal all the other parts of my body and mind, anxieties and fears, aches and pains, especially as I get older and sometimes take my body for granted while I enjoy life. I am still a work in progress...

And I always come back to stretching.

Sometimes I find that the stretches heal you directly, and sometimes they lead you to other things. For example, doing hours of thymus stretches made me feel as though pieces of my soul were missing, and the next day a friend gave me a book on Soul Retrieval, which led me to shamanic healings which helped me further heal from life traumas in my past. Then, sharing that with others has helped them heal as well...

Stretching yourself helps others.

You don't have to believe in anything here... When something works, it works. It is not a belief system. It may be energetic, organic, some law of attraction that causes your life to change when your mind and body changes, or it may not, maybe it can't be explained, just let it be a mystery and enjoy that it works.

In other words, it's ok to have doubts. Just buy the book and try it, and if it works for you great. If you hate it, give the book to a friend, or a local library. If you give it to the library, make sure you tell them to keep it in circulation (don't sell it at sales), so that others can benefit in the future.

If you like the stretching, set your intention for things you want to accomplish in your life and stay connected, and while you are connected, the knowledge, and your own intuition, attention, etc., will help you to learn which stretches to do, and keep you stretching until you begin to get what you want, and then that satisfaction will make your mind say, "YES", and you will keep going...

In summary, just buy the book and start stretching. Learn from Bob, in book, or in person while he is here teaching.

No one on this planet knows as much as Bob knows about stretching, personalities, etc.. except Bob today, so stay tuned for his future books...

That Bob took his time to write this book, putting some of his knowledge into words, as a system, is a gift to mankind. It like a Buddhist teaching, or the Tao, or Chinese Medicine, only it is in plain English, very simple, and easy to follow.

It allows your own body, mind, emotions, and life to become your teacher. It is for the present generation and the future. It is an organic system of medicine, transformation, psychology, etc., and it comes from Life itself.

It was here all the time, for thousands of years, millions of years, simply waiting for some One to discover it and put it into words.

Bob is that One.

And everything I have said might just be an understatement.

Who knew stretching could feel so good!! This book offers a simple way to attain optimum health!

I’ve always hurried my way through the stretching aspect of a workout, or just skipped it altogether. Seen as a necessary evil, I preferred to spend my workout time on the ‘workout’. I was not even paying attention, except to notice how far I could get into the stretch compared to the last time. Same with yoga. Bob Cooley's philosophy puts the kaibosh on all of that. I’ve done the ‘stretches’ and my body is thanking me. Truly with yoga I was always straining something new, just as I repaired the last injury; now I understand why. It sort of scrambled my brain for a while, but I stayed open-minded and now I look forward to my stretching more than my workout, as this form of stretching has become my workout. And the exercises feel so good! ps Don't skip the chapter on nutrition, i found it really helpful.

Completely fails to live up to its name - avoid, avoid!

I cannot begin to imagine what other reviewers of this book are talking about - the book is called How to make people laugh - but it explains nothing of the sort at all. You can read it in half an hour or less and will have gained nothing. I can only think the reviews must be by people trying to sell each other's books by posting 5 star ratings for incredibly weak content books to make easy money. I say this very reluctantly but the book is that weak it's absurd. I get the impression the person writing it is a decent and may be well intended individual but the book should not be called 'how to make people laugh' if it simply doesn't tackle that challenging subject in any way shape or form. I promptly returned it for a full refund and caution other viewers of the book to steer well clear lest you realize how you've wasted $2.99 and missed the 7-day window for a refund on an utter 'dud'.

An Interesting Fun Read

This book is not filled with funny jokes. That is not what the book is all about.

You'll find a few good tips for comedian wanna-be's, but the book is more about helping you improve your social skills using humor. According to the author, being funny is a talent and skill that can be developed. I agree that having a reputation for being funny is much better than being a boring "deadpan."

A tip that helped me is in chapter two. It says a funny person seizes the moment without over thinking the circumstances. I find myself holding back being spontaneous sometimes because I am not sure it will be funny or appropriate. It's okay to risk telling a joke or saying something that bombs. It happens to everybody.

The author caught my attention when he referenced comedian George Carlin's use of timing and fast paced delivery in his notorious seven words you can't say on television routine. I have been a George Carlin fan for years.

Learn to make people laugh

Honestly, I already believe that I am pretty funny but I wanted to check out this book to see how I can take my jokes to the next level and get more laughs when I am talking to people. Making people laugh in everyday conversation I feel like is a skill and not something that everyone has. But, lucky for them there is this book, that can teach you how to make people laugh. I learned a lot from this author, who seems very knowledgeable on the subject. The most helpful section in my opinion was the part on timing a delivery. This is extremely important when telling jokes because if the timing isn't right, the joke won't land. Overall, this was a very helpful guide to being more funny and I recommend it to those who are looking to make people laugh.

A Great Book

Recently, in my eighth grade English class, we read To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. During our study of the 1930's in Alabama we were assigned to read another book by an African American author. I chose A Raisin the Sun because my mom recommended it. Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun written in 1959 is an intriguing, must read play. This play shows the strength of an African-American family's values and ability to stick together. They face many hard things that shock the reader and the audience including an accidental pregnancy. They battle against harsh prejudice and a system that attempts to keep them from having good opportunities to improve their life. Hansberry does a good job of intertwining family hardships with the individuality of each character. She develops each character personally and carries on his or her traits through out the entire book. The attitude she takes towards the great struggles of a Chicago family, Walter, Ruth, Mama, Beneatha and Travis Younger is convincing because of her tone and description. She shows that life for an African American person at this time is difficult and full of obstacles more challenging than the ones that white people faced. Although A Raisin in the Sun takes place 29 years after To Kill a Mockingbird, African American people are still treated with no respect and are limited in their rights. Both stories constantly demolish African-American families' dreams. Hansberry illustrates through her tone that the family life is rough and the Youngers' are eager for a big change. This action in the plot causes excitement and suspense. As a reader I constantly want the Younger family to over come their challenges and do well in the future. In the same way, In To Kill A Mockingbird I was always hoping that Tom Robinson would be freed. Although there are similarities in the way black people are treated in both books, Lorraine Hansberry as a black author develops her black characters more thoroughly than Harper Lee. Lorraine Hansberry leaves her white characters to roles that are minor. I like this play because it is realistic and shows how strong a family bond is no matter what comes between them. She really showed how the Youngers' were struggling financially but still managed to succeeded all of the obstacles in their way.

Allison Leigh is Wonderful!

This book is the second in the series, "Men of the Double C Ranch". I fell in love with the Clay brothers in the first book "Stay" where we meet each of the Clay men and learn to eagerly await each one of their stories. This is Matthew's story. Put a hard-headed rancher and a smart-mouth city girl together, and wait for the sparks to fly. There is never a dull moment between Matthew and Jamie. He doesn't think she has what it takes to survive life on a ranch, so he is constantly putting up barriers, while Jamie proves him wrong at every turn. Allison Leigh has a remarkable gift for bringing you inside her stories, and holding you there until the last word is read. This is one series I'll hate to see come to an end.

A truly moving play

"A Raisin in the Sun," the play by Lorraine Hansberry, was produced in New York City in 1959. Hansberry creates the story of the Youngers, a struggling African-American family whose members deal with poverty, racism, and painful conflict among themselves as they reach for a better life. The Youngers are, in my opinion, one of the most unforgettable families in United States literature. Hansberry balances grim drama, comic moments, and redemptive love as the play unfolds.
Although a few of the characters may seem a bit stereotypical, the play strikes me as surprisingly fresh after all these decades. It is also fascinating to hear the voices of three generations of a single family in this play. Ultimately, "Raisin" is a celebration of struggle, pride, and hope, in addition to being a historically important indictment of mid-20th century racism. This is essential reading for anybody with a serious interest in United States drama or African-American literature.

The book was great. Broke down the calculations to simple to understand steps. Only negative was that it was a paperback, so some of the pages came loose. I rented it and it isn't the newest book due to that fact. Other than that, it was great! Shipping was super fast and on time with my Student Prime.

Surprisingly easy to follow

For the non-CPA/CFO grads who must endure Financial Management courses, this was a surprisingly good tool. I believe the edition has now been re-released as there were some errors pointed out in advance by the instructor, but I actually enjoyed this book, probably because the author writes in a clear and step-by-step fashion.

Over the years, David has owned other small businesses including a karate school, as well as a popular restaurant in suburban Boston. With the exception of twelve years, he has always been self-employed as an adult.
 
As a person with ADHD, he feels ADHD has always fueled his desire to be his own boss. For him, ADHD has given him a creative and energetic edge in the business world. In writing Overcoming Distractions, he set out to find others who also felt that ADHD was, in fact, a gift if managed properly. David has always been driven to create his own path to success, and he wanted to tell the stories of other successful people with ADHD.

A Handbook for ADHD success

Great book - I love how the author mixes the symptoms, the science and how others have used it to their benefit. I find some other books are heavy on the theories and should-a, would-a, could-a but not this book! The examples are relatable to most anyone, yet really focus in on those who have already struggled. The book allowed them to share their personal stories about the internal/external hardships within families, friendships, relationships, professions and other experiences that lead to self discovery, healing, overcoming and ultimately thriving. Well written enough to skip to a chapter or read cover to cover. I am giving this book to my son, I hope he can find himself in one of the many stories and that it will help him avoid some pitfalls. He is the very definition of ADHD and I know he is smart enough to use the information in the book to inspire and excel.

I bought this book because I knew of the author through business and wanted to support him. I never thought I would read it. I read the book because I was intrigued after reviewing the table of contents. I couldn't put the book down. I often read business books and this book fit in through the entrepreneurs that David interviewed. It's proof that ADHD Folks can have a successful business. It showed me a different perspective on ADHD! Well done David, this is now a must read recommendations for entrepreneurs.

Bio/Pics is the first comprehensive study of a once important film genre, the biographical film. Using previously unavailable archival materials from Twentieth Century-Fox, Warner Bros., MGM, and RKO studios, as well as censorship files from the Production Code Administration, George Custen argues that, through these films, Hollywood manufactured a nearly monochromatic view of history that was systematically distorted in regard to race, gender, nationality, and profession.Utilizing a carefully selected sample of over 100 films produced during the Studio Era (1927-1960), Custen maintains that the biopic constructed a Hollywood code of history out of a tightly controlled reference system, glamorizing the producers' own personal visions of what constituted a great life. Custen's examination of production practices reveals that the machinery of public history operating through these films was fueled by difference sources. His analysis of the roles played by star personae, legal considerations, censorship practices, and the producers' own ideologies brings the world of biopic alive, even into the age of the made-for-TV movie.
