What an Amazing Place The Other Sky Is!!! I bought this on the advise of other Amazon Readers and was NOT dissapointed. Caywood and Mellas are gifted story tellers and related their ongoing ET encounters with every frightening and amazing detail leaving nothing out. I especially loved their spiritual conclusions and explanations of why all this ET/Spirit stuff is happening to us and to our world at this time. Everything they said made such sense. I will be thinking about what they wrote for a long time as I like to ponder the deeper meaning and insights of their Other Sky Wisdoms. This book IS a must have , must read for everyone and not just the simi-curious or causual reader either

Not my cup of tea.

This was, from my point of view, very boring and slow moving. It really didn't pick up until one half the way through the book. Personally, I was hoping for much more "hard" science and observations, but instead the book is filled with all kinds of "New Age" wisdom. I am not being critical of the experiencers, nor am I questioning their validity. My comments are on the substance of the book and the material presented. You could, if you wanted to, write the book in a "Cliff Note" style... I was asleep. Aliens woke me up. They floated me to their craft. They conducted experiments on me. They led me back to my bed. I slept.

What became interesting was when the writer started to make claims to be a translator for a galatic federation. Um...OK. But still, even these unique insights were not able to provide me with the meat and potatoes that I needed and desired from this book. I found the book to be a disapointment and I do not recommend it for researchers searching for definative hard observations.

I was suprised by the amount of detail and the crediblity of the authors. Caywood and Mellas really have a handle on this subject like no one I have ever read before. I'd like to offer my recommendation as a solid and reliable one, since I don't usually go in for this kinda of genre (UFO's and such) but a friend purchased this book for me... So I gave it try and I loved it. It was most intriguing and inspiring, not mention really scarey in some parts of the book. I recommend this book to you if you want a book that will really grab you long after you've finished reading it. It really made me think and look at the bigger picture in a whole new way.

The key to minimizing quarterback damage is an effective offensive left tackle. Lewis, most recognizable as the author of the best-selling Moneyball (2003)--about the growing reliance on statistical analysis in baseball--describes the NFL's ever-growing obsession with left tackles as a means to counter defenders who seem to grow bigger, stronger, and more vicious each season. A touchdown

I became a Michael Lewis fan years ago when I read Liar's Poker. Fan may be too strong a word. I realized then that I enjoyed his style and so when browsing the book store, and with the movie trailers out, seeing that the book was by Lewis, i decided to give it a shot.

I was not disappointed. Lewis has a way of writing that brings something which you are not a part of into your life and make you one with it. Some of his short works i still find that I remember vividly, twenty years later and recite from on occasion.

Here we have an encouraging story of a young black boy who really has nothing in his life but his athletic ability. We have a good family that certainly does not need to exploit the boy. So they did what we all should want to do if our situations allowed, take the boy in and help. But the story is not just about that, it covers the evolution of football, these last thirty to forty years as marquee quarterbacks, or productive west-coast offense systems come into play.

In essence it is two books because of that, and it is what makes the story. I had to call my football buddy up half-way through and tell him I had a book he needed to read. Now I have to watch a game and wonder what the left tackle is doing.

This book was a very good read, and well worth the time and effort. It may not be as fun ultimately as Playing for Pizza by Grisham, but it is pretty good in its own way.

Multiple Stories, All Good

An incredible human interest story detailed further below but first.........the author of Liar's Poker and Moneyball is at it again with an offbeat interesting subject, or multiple subjects which are intertwined. This is an analysis of the evolution of the left side tackle designed to protect the quarterback's blind side, particularly from the evolution of speed rushers in the Lawrence Taylor mode. Lewis starts with an in depth analysis of Joe Theisman's famous leg break with some interesting facts even Joe didn't remember including who may really have been responsible. Separate stories are then presented of the new prototype Left Tackles like Jonathan Ogden whose investment banker father showed him that his value at Left Tackle would out way any interest in playing college basketball for his 6'9" son. This part of the book is intertwined with a historical perspective of how the passing game developed mainly through the Bill Walsh West Coast offense which downplays the significance of the quarterback. This section of the book is intertwined around the personal story to be described and while extremely interesting to football fans will have virtually NO appeal the typical female fan or other casual fans.

But what will be of greater human interest is the overlay of the story of Michael Oher, the "man/child" currently playing football at Ole Miss. Oher shows up at a predominantly white Christian school in the 9th grade with virtually no school history and horrible family background. An incredibly shy 350 pound kid struggles but ingratiates himself to faculty and staff and manages to stick around. Finally one Thanksgiving Day a volunteer assistant coach and his wife see him at a bus stop in his usual shorts and recognize that in addition to no money for food, he is traveling to the gym to watch practice just to be in a heated room. Through incredible acts of kindness and caring this young man is taken in by this wealthy Christian family who attempt to socialize and educate him for the future.

But little did they realize that at 6' 6" with an incredible frame and quick feet, football coaches would see their answer to possibly the most important position on the football field and they would relentlessly come calling. This presents many problems as Oher has virtually no chance of attending college with his past educational background. Thus begins the odyssey of the recruiting wars for this individual who by the end of high school has been called the best pro prospect even though he has played in only 15 football games.

This portion of the book dominates approximately 70% of the book. It is incredibly touching and I certainly applaud the sympathetic, caring approach by Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy. This book is not just for football fans as the issues here are much greater. How does a child get to the 9th grade with virtually no retention of knowledge or ability to function in a social setting? What can a change in culture and caring do for this young man? And other questions will also appear such as is their potential ulterior motives for selecting this student out of so many and wasn't the final steps to eligibility really inappropriate? As to my opinion I choose to believe that the Tuohy's were interested in helping another human being, and in the process, it enriched the lives of their family, this young man and the possibilities that a loving, caring environment can create.

I strongly recommend this book for football fans, sociologists, and people with interest in politics, religion, or Southern Culture as there are many issues intertwined. Once again, the weakness to this book may be that he narrowed its focus by making it a "sports book". It's not. Its main message concerns underprivileged kids and how a change in environment can produce incredible results.

As a matter of disclosure, I live in Memphis, have leased Tuohy's his plane in the past and have many mutual friends. He and his wife have exceptional reputations and I applaud their involvement in helping this man.

Mainly about the Query Designer

This book is the best book currently available about SAP BI reporting. That said, other books on this topic (mainly by Norbert Egger) aren't particularly convincing. So there isn't much competition. Besides as another reviewer mentioned, it is much cheaper.

Peter Jones explains the concepts well and in greater detail then you will find elsewhere. There are lots of useful examples, tips and tricks.

This book devotes a lot of space to the query designer - this is the central tool for all SAP BI reporting - and covers it well. It has another two chapters on the report designer, a module that SAP is going to let die, so one might consider this bit a waste of space. The information broadcaster is also covered quite well and in sufficient detail.
Peter Jones decided to add a chapter for web reporting and the enterprise portal plus half a chapter each for the visual composer and integrated planning. I suspect he did this mainly, so he could say that he had covered all the front end tools.
Unfortunately the lack of space means these topics get short shrift, as you could easily fill a complete separate book for each of them. The VC and IP bits don't tell you much more than that these modules exist and why they might be interesting.

PJ has announced a book covering web reporting and as the Web Application Designer won't be replaced before 2013 (Business Objects Pioneer in the SDK version), I am definitely going to buy it.

So far the best in BI reporting

This is the book I've been looking for, I can easily find the information I need with detailed explanation and personal comment from the author, not only description of terms and collection of screens capture. This book shows that the author has a hands on experience in BI reporting. I recomment this book over SAP Press books with the same subject, and this one is cheaper from Amazon.com ;-)

Insightful and bold

At Bible College I was introduced to the idea of dispensationalism and the Rapture as ground work for my basic studies. However, a recent challenge to these ideas found me woefully lacking. While researching I came across this study and was immediately captivated as my eyes were opened to the rich bounty of resources William Watson had revealed.

I enjoyed the non-bias manner in which the matter is presented and yet with the strength of the individual Bereans set forth in their individual beliefs gave me additional insights I had not previously considered. My experience has found that authors are more often then not espousing their own bias` and therefore using only material that best promotes the thesis being put forward.

Additional insights brought out in this study would include, but not be limited too, Anti-Christ beliefs through the ages; millennialism; replacement theology and more...

Wonderful book. This absolutely blows apart the theory that ...

Wonderful book. This absolutely blows apart the theory that J.N. Darby invented Dispensationalism and the Pretrib rapture. All the essential ideas associated with Dispensationalism were being discussed for a couple of centuries before Darby. Though a fully systematized Dispensationalism did not seem to appear before Darby, the significant ideas had been thoroughly discussed. Watson does a wonderful job documenting the richness of Anglican, Puritan, and Separatist thought in 16th and 17th century England, the American Colonies, France and Holland.

The straw-man that Darby invented dispensationalism will disappear in 20 years

Fantastic, groundbreaking, vastly important work!! Watson sheds a new light on the correct origins of many elements of dispensationalism that pre-date John Nelson Darby. The straw-man that Darby invented dispensationalism will disappear in 20 years. Nearly every theology textbook will have to be revised due to Dr. Watson's research. I had the pleasure of hearing him lecture on this topic recently and was impressed. I'm still reading the book, but it is groundbreaking!

Well-written, and a very good overview of modern coding

This book covers a large amount of advanced material in only ~350 pages. This is done by almost entirely omitting introductory material. The author assumes that the reader is very well-versed in classical coding theory and goes directly into LDPC codes.

This book favors written descriptions over dense equations and diagrams. Equations and diagrams may still be found, but they are not as prevalent as they are in most technical texts.

This book covers a very broad topic in a small amount of text, so the content does not have much depth. The reference list is excellent, though, and it is well-cited throughout the book. My 4-star rating is because I would have liked a bit more detail. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn the basics of modern channel codes, but if somebody wants a more detailed reference, I would recommend Ryan and Lin

I really liked this book. It is a great source to learn the main ideas. For real depth the book by Ryan and Lin is good. This book is really readable and a great first source to get up to speed of how to. There are some typos. All in all a really useful book.
